so as the title states i just had my graduation party and got enough money to buy a new knife... i was looking at a mircotech ultratech or a zt 0150. i know they aren't really similar in any way but they have been on a wish list for a while... i was wondering if there was any suggestions in a medium to high end knife that someone would strongly recomend i dont really want to spend more than any more than $250 on the knife i get however i may make an acception

I guess they don't teach grammar, capitalization and punctuation in high school anymore.

I guess they don't teach how to sound like a pretentious dick in high school anymore as well.

Additionally, your comment is off topic.

Dude, I would suggest you try out an Emerson CQC-8. It has great ergos and everybody has to try an EKI at some point!
Enjoy graduating!

Lucky you. I'm also graduating. The only grad gifts I'm getting, I bought for myself with money I worked for.

Get something to remember the occasion. Something that wont make sense to use and sell once you've played with it.

The ZT150 boot knife is over priced for a boot knife IMO. It doesn't have enough reach for that last ditch emergency use if needed. A gerber Mark 2 would be a better boot knife if want a knife for its intended uses. For daily use, I would advise you strongly not to get the ZT150. I know its bronze finish is Tacti-cool, but its handle is uncomfortable to use to long periods of time, and since it is double edge, it qualifies as a dagger which makes it illegal to carry in some locations.

I recommend a ZT200 or ZT350 as a first blade for a ZT. They're both good sized, STRONG blades, well under $200, both being around $150 new. The new ZT350TS (tiger stripe) is a good looking blade. Great for EDC use, thin profile, A/O, S30V. The ZT200 is a tank of a flipper. Manual, 154CM, super comfortable handle, great for EDC. Thicker, bigger, for those who want a large EDC folder.

Just my $0.02

I think you'd be pleased with any ZT model. Also, at under $250, there are a lot of nice higher-end Spydercos that would be worth looking into.

I think with graduation money you should go with a folder.
You can pocket-carry it better than a fixed blade.
Quick and easy just to pull it out and use it.
More sheeple friendly - don't ask me why but people just seem to think of some pocket knives as less threatening.
Plus you can never go wrong with a nice and simple EDC folder.

Suggestions under $250(really depends on what you're looking for):
ZT 0200
ZT 0300 series
ZT 0400 - if you like tantos, it's the best I've owned
ZT 0550 - Nicely built titanium frame lock.
ZT 0551 - A little more than the 0550 but has Elmax blade steel. You can find it pretty often under $250

Kershaw Rake - an awesome EDC - the composite blade is beyond excellent.
Kershaw JYD II - You can get it in composite blade.
Kershaw Leek G-10 - s30v steel.
Kershaw Leek Composite.
Kershaw Blur in s30v or CPM-154

Any Kershaw Skyline as it's just a sweet little EDC.

Spyderco Chokwe - My current main EDC - I can't say enough good about this knife. The looks are different but it's an amazing knife - Ergos and everything.
Spyderco Para 2
Spyderco Sage series - I love the Sage 2
Spyderco Leafstorm
Spyderco Military - You can afford the Titanium one!
Spyderco UKPK - There are a variety of choices:
-Gin-1 steel with FRN handles in black, grey, blue, maroon, and a hollow ground leaf or drop point blade.
-Gin-1 steel with orange FRN handles and sheepsfoot hollow ground blade - fully serrated.
-CTS-BD1 steel with FRN handles in black, grey, blue, maroon, and a hollow ground leaf or drop point blade.
-s30v steel with titanium handles and a FFG leaf shaped blade.
-s30v steel with G-10 handles(Foliage green or the discontinued orange) with a FFG drop point or leaf blade.
-s30v steel with CF handles and a FFG leaf shaped blade.
-s30v steel with orange G-10 handles and a hollow ground fully serrated sheepsfoot blade.

Benchmade large Bone Collector
Benchmade 755 MPR
Benchmade 760 LFTi
Benchmade 790 Subrosa
Benchmade 275 ADAMAS
Benchmade 710

There are just so many good knives out there.

I hope that Chokwe is an amazing knife to use. I've never subscribed to the "all Spydies are fugly" theory, but, well, that one sure is. Are you sure it really feels that good to use? How about a proper review?
