If it were me graduating college and I had my dad paying for a knife, he'd be getting me a Sebenza! I think it would be fitting being as you are now an engineer, and this is over engineered! It's a match made on the drafting board. I love mine, go for the 'benza.

The Sebbie sounds pretty good to me, but then there are some AWESOME knives out there to consider if someone else is picking up the tab!
Custom Talonite?
Battle Mistress?
HI Ang Khola?
Mad Dog ATAK?

Let your imagination go!

Dangelo,
Are we limited only to folders for our suggestions or are you thinking fixed too?

If he's willing to spring for a wood-inlay Sebbie, there are a lot of customs in the same price range, and customs seem to be better-engineered, for the most part (gotta put in a plug for us engineers...

Well, if Dad's paying I second the suggestion for a Battlemistress

...only try to find a variant. Can't go wrong with that. Or, maybe a unique Dozier with walnut or ironwood scales. Or a Matt Lamey bowie. Or a Daniel Winkler hunter. Geez, now you got me talking bout what I want

! Good luck in your search.

If you're graduating in engineering, perhaps you're seeking a nice gentleman's folder to carry around the office.

How about a Delta Z Deco?

You could beg Ken Onion to make you a Boa

I ONLY WANT FOLDERS...

I have ALL the fixed blades I want right now...

BOA WOULD BE AWESOME!

(I would consider most of my above mentioned pieces gentlemen's folders???)

Tom Mayo TNT, Darrel Ralph Apogee, a lot of good ones out there. The wood inlays are awesome! I highly recommend the small, I love mine. But the wait for the inlay would long and they are collectors pieces so I wouldn't use it as an everyday carry. I would go with the medium TNT. Look in Mayoknives.com

I'd suggest considering some of the custom makers who are really strong on design. Brian Tighe, Howard Viele, and Darrell Ralph come to mind. I personally really like much of the work of Thomas Haslinger. His URL is:

Have fun making your choice!

Steve, you are graduating Engineering School; you deserve the best.

Get a small wood inlay Sebenza and you may never buy another knife.

The knife is that good and the people at CRK are great.

But why would I want to do that? Nevery buying another knife would be a horrible thing. Is this Sebenza thing some sort of curse?

Stay with that swing "thing".

I said you MAY never buy another; it didn't stop me from buying more.
