Until a few weeks or so ago when codger started a thread about the research of the schrade grafillet knife, I knew they existed but barley. I started watching for one on the bay and knife shows. Someone had this listed as a fish knife and I picked it for under $30 bucks, which I thought was a pretty good deal. Either way I didint have one and Im not a big du collector, but it fits the bill. My point here even more than the knife or the find, is this. The majority of the knives I find myself collecting over the last year are stuff posted here that I was either unaware of its existance or someone writes an article about a knife that I was unaware of its greatness. Sounds funny I know. For example the schrade lightweights- they seem to be a knife you can still pick up for rather cheap and somewhat of a uncollectible knife. Till I read something I believe codger wrote about them and all the neat little things about them. Since, Ive picked up a few of thoes and been rather impressed with them. Regardless of what knife or knivesyou like to collect or styles you like to collect, Its been a great help in my collecting habbits.
I know you should collect what you like and I do. Sometimes I just learn what it is that I like to collect from other peoples input. sometimes I find out about knives I'd never even herd of. My boss said I should leave work everyday having learned something new, I find myself doing the same thing here, thanks guys. just my 2 cents.- Joel

That is great knife and a fair price. I'm surprised I missed it, but then again I hate ducks, so I probably would have past it by after seeing the "D" word. Let us know how you like it after you have gotten a chance to carve up some fish with it.

I was hoping to maybe trade it off to someone who is a big DU collector for a regular one cause Im sure some du guy would love to have it and hate for me to use it. But I pretty much use all my knives so It wont be long. I'll Say this I love the way it feels in my hand.- Joel

The graphite composite handles do have good grip to them. Mine came very very sharp from the factory. I don't know that I will use this one though since I already had a user. They weren't made very long and didn't sell a whole lot of them in spite of their using them in promotions and including them in some DU raffle sets.

They do come nice and sharp, but you ought to see one after a couple of strokes on the Sharpmaker, I'm talk-en scary sharp, which is what you want in a good fillet knife.
I think it's like Michael said once before, I know guys that will spend thousands of dollars on reels and rods and tackle but won't spend $25 on a good knife.. I think thats why they were never popular.Too good for the money.
