Until a few weeks or so ago when codger started a thread about the research of the schrade grafillet knife, I knew they existed but barley. I started watching for one on the bay and knife shows. Someone had this listed as a fish knife and I picked it for under $30 bucks, which I thought was a pretty good deal. Either way I didint have one and Im not a big du collector, but it fits the bill. My point here even more than the knife or the find, is this. The majority of the knives I find myself collecting over the last year are stuff posted here that I was either unaware of its existance or someone writes an article about a knife that I was unaware of its greatness. Sounds funny I know. For example the schrade lightweights- they seem to be a knife you can still pick up for rather cheap and somewhat of a uncollectible knife. Till I read something I believe codger wrote about them and all the neat little things about them. Since, Ive picked up a few of thoes and been rather impressed with them. Regardless of what knife or knivesyou like to collect or styles you like to collect, Its been a great help in my collecting habbits.
I know you should collect what you like and I do. Sometimes I just learn what it is that I like to collect from other peoples input. sometimes I find out about knives I'd never even herd of. My boss said I should leave work everyday having learned something new, I find myself doing the same thing here, thanks guys. just my 2 cents.- Joel
