It's been a while since I posted a thread here... I just walked back in the house from Cleveland TN, picked this up from the man himself. Jon's been very cool over the past few years, I've known him longer than any knifemaker. He's been accommodating and welcoming in his shop, let me come down and visit a bunch, I think he even bought me pizza once... Anyway, all this to say, I'm honored and excited every time I get the chance to own one of his knives, in particular when it's handed to me by Jon.... So, without further adieu...
Specs:
Blade: 3.5"
OAL: 8.5"
Weight: 6oz on the nose.
Steel: CTS-B75P
The handles are made from AJ Composites (formerly Ghost CF)'s Smoked CF, they had a VERY limited amount they sold on IG earlier this year... I snagged two pieces, this is one.
There's nothing that classes a knife up more than a beautifully crowned spine. Also note how Jon ground the tanto gives it an arrowhead look.
Let's talk a little about this grind. I didn't request this, blade was 100% chef's choice. I didn't know what Jon was gonna do until he sent me finished pictures. He blew the doors off the place with this thing... That Jon is an evil-grinder-wielding-genius.
I haven't had many knives with Mokuti, I really wanted some accents on this one, and I love how it turned out. Both on the handles and with the "temple tickler", floating, backspacer.
Oh yeah, she's big too.
And the current collection. Honors to own, both of them. Hope you all enjoyed them, and I'm looking forward to your comments.
