AAAHHH! Another passaround that allowed me to try out a knife that I wouldn't have the chance to put thru real world use before I bought it :)

Booger put up for a passaround, Read all the stuff HERE,
one of his MANY, MANY ( :) ) Graham Knives called the Razel.
This defied all the paradigms that I had about knives.
It is a blend of a razor and chisel.
WHAT!! You say! What good would that be....
HAH!

The knife specs are: 3/16 or 1/4 inch s30v or 154cm, Less than 7 inch OAL. It's custom work and the one I had was s30.

What use would I have for it?
Pic 5 - Razel in it's leather sheath

Pic 4 - Well here's the Razel with an old SureFire 6p (maybe a p).

Pic 3 - Anyway it's not a big knife but

PIC 2 - it fit my hand very well. Not too heavy and the detail is fantastic.

This is the only knife that I showed the guys at work and EVERYONE went wild over. That says a lot for it's beauty.
PIC 1 - It's a stout knife that will be difficult to fail under extreme conditions. A spine view of the filework, thickness and detail.

Continued in part TWO

Comeon make with part 2 - heye quiet day in the control room? :p

So did ya like it?

The sheath
Is among the nicest I've used. Molded leather and the clip system kept the sheath locked on to pocket or belt. My edc was Right front pocket.
There's a thick leather spacer to prevent slicing thru the sheath when inning or outing the blade.
Pic 1 is the sheath clip sysyem

Pic 2 is it opened to show the clipping method. I've not seen this before but I really, really like it.

Pic 3 is the wire I sliced thru

The sheath is WONDERFUL! It is leather and has the leather filler so you don't slice your way out of the sheath in use.
The sheath has a system to lock onto belt or pants that I'd not seen before.
It's great it will not come loose from the pocket. Where I kept it for most of the week that I had it.
Right front pocket. The Razel fits snug into the molded leather and did not slop out even though I tried to fling it with several sharp wrist actions.

I used the knife or Razor edge to cut the sheathing, down to the core, of a 10,000 volt wire. That's a outer wrap with thin copper insulator with....well. many layers till you reach the copper conductor core.
I sliced thru to the copper core in one slice. The Razor shape was a great lever to hold contact with the material and I could put pressure on the blade with having lots of control.
The blade edge did not roll or dull out.
I cut wood sticks, cardboard boxes, plastic sheet and industrial carpet.
WOOHOO!! The Razel sailed through all tasks without even a touchup.
The blade stayed sharp throughout my testing.
What do you do with the chisel edge. I used this edge much less than the razor. But I did use it to chisel/slice hardened epoxy off of a wood surface. I was able to not gouge the wood surface as it was an old presentation box that was dear to me.

More info and links to GrahamKnives.com is found in the passaround link

A VERY nice and USEFUL knife that is very different than anything I've used Hard before. A real user knife....errrrrrr....RAZEL

Thanks to Booger for passing his own Razel about.
AND to the Grahams for making a kickass knife....

SHEESH!!! give a guy some time !
It's a LOVELY night in the control room:D:D

I loved THE RAZEL!!
Tom

edited to add that I sharpened the Razel just before passing it on to TIR.
A quick lick with the Lansky and DMT fine stones and a strop and it is good to go :)

Either:

1. I am a complete moron

2. You have the biggest hands I have ever seen

3. Those knife specs are off

That knife is over 8 inches long and fits in your hand like that???

Please help me understand.

Great pics by-the-way. :)

Good Catch Kbog, No one mentioned it before.

I just went on Graham's site and this Razel was less than 7 inches. I don't have the actual size.
I forget where I got the original info. Probably the passaround post before the crash :)

NO I don't have big hands

I'll edit my post to reflect, more accurately the size.
Thanks for really READING my post.
:)
Tom

That's great news because now I can eliminate choice one in my previous post!!

Nice review. Those knives really intrigue me. That pocket Kukri on the main page is quite a looker too. Nice knives.

Don't be rash and rule choices out till you are really sure.

hahahahahaha

The PK was a delight to use. I like the Khuks in a larger size and the belly sometimes got in my way when I was doin flat cutting.

NO!!! Not my belly :)
The PK blade belly.

Do a search in the reviews and passaround forums for info on the Pocket Khukuri. We have that one being passed around now.
I had it for a bit and it was the usual Graham Knives WOW!!!
Tom

lol. Yeah, you're right. Jury is still out on that one! :D

Thanks for the PK tip.
