Thanks to the Bladeforums Knives Wanted forum and to a real gentleman and friend who reached out to me and released a real treasure to my care. I have been in the hunt for one of these for almost 6 years. This arrived on tax day and it stays forever home with me.

I have had a number of DDR Apogees, but for one reason or another they did not stay with me; sacrificed for something else. The main reason my prior Apogees left for new homes was the way they opened. I am into buttons. This large Apogee; which very few of this size were made, even fewer like this one, is a D/A. The Illusion release is awesome; and this one kicks like a Dalton.

Enjoy it.
I have one of the 'Millennium Apogees' that were made to help support BFC.

Mine is an early version of the illusion. The only one in that size to have the illusion release and a blade of DDR's own Damascus. The scales on mine match the scales on yours.

Looks great. I had one of the early Apogee's , a mid size. Was a very well made folder.

Thanks all.

Hey, please dont be shy; put up a picture of your apogees. Lets see them!

I would, but someone else has it now. ;).

Glad you like it Dan, meeting you was a distinct pleasure.

Here's one that Darrell made for me several years ago with Norris stainless damascus:

Aha, it is the mysterious gentleman and friend. :)
Gus, I cannot thank you enough. I am so pleased with this knife.

Hey Blues. WOW!! That is tremendous! Thanks for sharing. I have one DDR piece with Norris damascus; a monster maxx.

Pyrguy, Is it the nickel damascus? Both very black and very bright? I had one of his early pieces with this damascus, a Patton. The contrasts in the damascus were mind boggling.

When it rains it pours. I was at Blade and came into another D/A Apogee; this one a plain one rather than a fancy Apogee. Both are very fine.

Very nice!!! Your new Apogee is dressed up just right.

Handled your Breed folder at the show. Picked up the other jigbone he had for myself and it was a toss up between that one and the one you purchased. They were both very well done. Kim's folders were really nice this year.

Congrats on both counts!
