grain refinement

I am still pretty new to this and I have a couple blades that I overheated and realize now that they are in need of some grain refinement. Do I just normalize a few times or do I need to anneal them too?
Thanks-

If you want things to be correct you should normalize and then anneal. You did leave out some important info though such as type of material and what the over heat was. It is possible that all you need to do is re-heat treat.

Both are unknown steels- one was a nail puller from Harbor Freight and the other was a railroad spring clip. I'm pretty sure I overheated because they got to welding heat (yellow white- partly burning). I use a charcoal forge so I don't have temp. control other than the rheostat on my blower. I am hoping I can refine them enough to still get a decent blade from them.
Thanks
