So I did some HT this weekend and a couple of the blades had small warps in them. O1, all 1/8". 3 times normalization, quench in heated canola, two tempers at 450. I tried to correct the warp during the second temper but it didnt take completely, so while trying again in the vise.. snap. sounded like glass. However, on checking the grain, this is what I saw. This is good correct?

Correct in that with a hardened blade you should never try to correct warp unless you heat to at least 400 F. Grain size looks OK .Give some details of how you tried to bend it back ??

When I took it out of the first temper, i noticed a slight warp, so I clamped it between two 3/16" steel plates and put it back in for the second temper. I didnt over straighten, just clamped. When i took it out of the second temper, I didnt notice any warp but when I was at the grinder cleaning of scale, I noticed a very slight warp. At first I just put half in the vise and tried to correct by pulling past straight, then i clamped it with the three rod setup. Im pretty sure I didnt push it that far, I just wonder if the rods were too close and created too much stress. its annoying but at least it allowed me to check my grain growth and HT..
