Graley 110 Sheaths?

Hey everybody. I'm thinking of getting a sheath for my 110 from Mr. Graley. The pictures I've seen here and on his website are impressive. I'm having some whacky thing happening when I e-mail him, so I beg the indulgence of the members here, so I can contact him this way.

I'd like a lefty, black, vertical sheath for a standard new Walmart 110, no finger grooves. I use a "One Armed Bandit" on it. I know his sheaths are well-fitted, so I wonder if I need to send the knife, or at least the OAB to him.

Ideally the sheath would leave a good bit of the knife sticking out for a firm grab upon drawing. I imagine the knife would have to be sheathed butt upwards.

Gary, if you read this, please e-mail me at the address I've been using to reach you. Let me know the cost, with shipping, to my home in Hampden, Maine.

Anyone want to post their thoughts on Mr. Graley's work? Pictures, Maybe?

Hi Tizwin, tried emailing to you from Hotmail as well, maybe that will work, but the
email sent basically said that the price of a 110 vertical sheath would be more than
what the walmart 110's are going for and I try to talk folks out of ordering them,
unless they have a special version or custom 110 to make it worth it, while some
enjoy that method of carrying and the custom sheath just adds value with it.

OOhhh, don't do that ;)

Sometimes a custom sheath for carry makes the knife that much more usable! A custom sheath for a standard 110, sounds perfect to me ;)
Nice work also Gary!!!

Heres another thread going on in Bf...

I agree with post #7, and I think that your sheaths would fall into the category that Slack
describes.

Thanks wh4f, good points, I'm a practical guy so I never try to press anyone into
something that they do not want, as I'd be seen as a bit biased of course! :)

I was so close to ordering a 110 sheath from Gary.

I agree with WillHunt4Food...
Gary is so humble in trying to talk ya outta it...pay no attention to the man behind the curtain :)
but while his sheaths are more expensive than a stock 110, they are worth it (based on what I have seen and heard).

The only reason I did not order a sheath was I wanted a horizontal carry with the butt in towards the back of the sheath with a OAB on the blade being exposed on the open end. I was concerned that with the "end" going in and out that the leather would stretch and the knife would be loose after time.

Picture a fat chick in Spandex that is baggy and ya get the idea.

Guess I could have wet formed it after awhile, but the last time I did that with a custom sheath (NOT Gary's) the dye in the sheath screwed up my elk scales :(

I think I made a sheath for a 110 a long time ago with the butt end going inside
and it seemed to work ok, better than I had thought, but I think the pivot end
works best and the 110's have a great retention/snap in place type of feeling
when the knife is seated.

Buckaholic, if you ever have to do that again with a sheath, wet form it a bit,
wrap the knife tightly in plastic wrap to prevent moisture from weeping onto the
knife. I do that as I shape the leather around the knife, takes the give out of
the leather and helps retention for a lot longer, so you don't end up with a baggy.

TIZWIN,you are correct Gary's sheaths are very impressize in fact I have four for my buck's. two for my 110's one for my red bone BG42 and another for my cabela's Alaskan Guide 110 which I can also use on my other smooth sided 110's both are for horizontal carry my best option.

I also have two for my 112's one for my BG 42 bladed 112 which is horizontal carry.I have another for my stag 3 dot 112 that is for either vertical carry or neck carry this sheath I bought from another forumite along with the 112.

all of Gary G's sheaths are superb.I have seven more of Gary's sheaths for my sebbies. one made in 2000 and stiil looks and carry's great.

my next will be for my caly 3 spyderco.

Thanks 1gailt, you do have a collection I'd say, nice knives as well.

Hi Tizwin, haven't heard from you, I opened a Hotmail account if you
want to give that a try, if you've changed your mind, no problem
just want to make sure you are not waiting on a response from me
if you are still having email woes.
