I was working on replacing a sink and found my Grandpa's old knife in one of the toolboxes I was looking through. I hadn't seen that knife in years. I removed the red rust trying not to remove the patina and put it on the stone trying to get the edge back. There were a few nicks on the edge but it is somewhat respectable now. Feels good in the hand. My grandpa used this knife when working on stuff outside. I don't recall what he had for a pocket knife but I clearly remember this knife. The blade is slightly bent as it looks like it was used to pry something. However, the blade is not loose from the old wood handle.

The classic Mora!

Nice find, Luciano. Congrats on a great keepsake and very usable knife!

Looks like you'll get a few more years out of it & the memories:thumbup::thumbup:

Glad to see you found your abuelito's knife Luciano. It looks like it can still put in a good day's work. Might have to semi-retire it because of its sentimental value, but it seems like that would be the perfect desk knife.

Thanks y'all.

My abuelo (grandfather) was simply known as Apa' and it will be one of the few things I have of his besides his old tackle box, some photos of him with that old fishing gear that he used to use, one of his stringers and the memories. My cousin, who is a professional saltwater fishing guide, always says we got the fishing genes from our Apa'. Some of my earliest memories include fishing with him on the Port of Brownsville Channel. I remember falling on cactus and then crying as my dad pulled out the spines. I remember my Apa' catching something that looked like an eel and cutting it up for bait.

I put some mineral oil on the blade and put it in my current toolbox in my truck just in case.

Thanks for sharing Luciano.

I like what you did with the patina. That knife has character!

The pattern is one of my all time favorites too. :)
