Three more due before the end of the year - and only half the kids are "in production" so far. :D

No - none of the family is Catholic.

Rob!

This means I have something between 18 - 25 years to finish another wedding cake knife. ;)

Not Catholic, just Prolific!:D

Congrats, it's good to hear! Hope ALL are happy and healthy.

Dang. Christmas must cost you a fortune.

25 Grandbabies! His clan could have their very own village. How Scottish!

Congratulations, Granddad. That's a lot of love.

Con Grads to you.
a few years ago I would have thought maybe 16-25 :D
My youngist of two is now 24 and still no grand babys from either of them :grumpy:
:)

Rob,

You better get started on those cake knives now (and maybe start making rings as well)! Lots of grandkids just means you have more chance of passing on the knifemaking bug to a family member. Good to hear everyone's doing well. Congrats!

Nathan

p.s. We aren't going to be seeing a "Ridley Colony" anytime in the future are we?:D

Why? You lookin' for potatoes or turkeys? (IG has the market cornered on hot sauce) .... and I'm not sayin' nothin' about IG and turkeys.

Rob!

Well Rob,

My brother just phoned me and told me he got engaged! Guess I might have to hit you up for some cake knife advice.

Have a good one,
Nathan

Congrats Nathan. You gonna keep letting your brother do all the family expansion work?

My best advice for a cake knife is to remember where it will be used. Anything used at a large gathering of two families with copious amounts of alcohol is best made with no edge and no point. ;) Like most cakes, the display should be an attractive fake - and I'm not going any farther with that.

Of course, I'm kidding (somewhat). Depending on how many weddings this knife may be likely to go through, you may want to etch the grooms name and use a label machine for the date and the bride. Notching the handle is a tradition that seems to be fading away along with the six gun - and perhaps that's for the best.

Somebody should write a book on this stuff. :)

Rob!

Yes Rob, my brothers are going to have to be the ones to carry on the family name. I tried to get engaged once (long story) and have since decided it's not worth rushing into anything. As for the labels, lets not jinx anything from the start:D . For now, I've got my hound and my knifemaking shack and that's good enough.

Have a good one (and maybe a cold one),
Nathan
