Hello ; all you brother Schrade lovers. I'm new on these forums. But l just needed a bit of information. Every day since 1956 my Grandfather has EDCed a Schrade 80T old timer senior stock man . He still carries it. I know that its 1095 carbon steel. I know that all Scrhade uncle henrys were stainless steel. But were all the 80T old timer stock mans carbon steel ? Or did the only use carbon steel in the very early stock men ?
I appreciate the assistance.

Those more knowledgeable than I will amplify on this one, but I know that all the 8 OTs were non-stainless 1095 steel until VERY late in the game. Toward the end (2004) of the Schrade dynasty, some MAY have had stainless blades. Many of the variants of the 8 OT in the last years did have stainless blades. As for your suggestion that Grand Dad started carrying one in 1956, The VERY FIRST 8 OT appeared in 1959, in tiny numbers, the first few in genuine bone. The bulk of them started in 1960.

I am so sorry
I meant to write 1969. I was using a touch screen smart phone and not my.laptop so l guess my finger slipped.

1969 was a good year for Schrade and for Schrade knives! The info above is correct. A 1969 8OT would be 1095 steel as would the base pattern for the following years until they tried switching to stainless late in the game. Variants and special editions could be found in stainless before then. The slightly smaller stockman, 34OT was a better seller, but the 8OT remained popular thru 2004.

Schrade called the 8OT and 34OT "STOCKMAN" more than one would be Stockmans, I think.

My 1959 8OT has Saw Cut Bone handles.

Schrade also made some 935's (8OT's) for John Primble around 1969 to 73.
My first and still ever-day-user is an 881, I have been using since 1973. It is much the same knife as the 8OT with 1095 blades... Ken

I like the price for the 935's! $4.57 each back in 1973. They came in the envelope, with the price and even the salesman’s name

I belive this 2003 knife has 1095 steel blades,
