Thanks, Rick.
I'm a collector of fine American Cutlery products, and a daily user of modern, American made blades. Obviously, the death of Schrade has affected me as well. They made many mistakes that led to their demise.
I think the remaining American knife companies have to be quick on their feet, quick to respond to the customer, and appreciative of we faithful, for we're a shrinking breed. Every little market share: collectors & users, have to be aggressively courted and pleased. It cannot be easy.
Maybe I am overestimating the power of we public forum users, but we are the faithful I mentioned above. The front line of your customer base. Of course we're gonna hold our favorite manufactors to high standards, both in product and customer service.
It did irk me that members of the forum here were working among themselves to show off YOUR product for you. Honestly.. I know you're a busy guy, but at the first inkling that someone had an interest in what should be an important new product line for the company, I would have been down on the factory floor, snapping excellent pics, making a post, showing off the product, describing it in glowing detail... making the sale. Making the sale as if my livelyhood depended upon it.
We're fortunate over in the Schrade forum to have some fascinating new members... They are former employees of Schrade, who now have lots of time to spend on web forums...
