Helping out my uncle today and came across one of my grandpa's old knives. From what I have gathered, it is a 1976(4dot) Barlow style.

The only thing that has me stumped, is whether or not it is bone. They said most of them are delrin after 74. This one has very irregular coloring, unlike most of the delrin examples I have seen.

What say you, oh internet fountain of wisdom, to bone or not to bone?

The picture quality is much better on my phone than what is showing up here. Weird.

Thanks, I'm going to have to dig out my jewlers loupe and see if I can't nail it down for sure. The only magnifier I have on hand is 2000x+, which proved to be WAY too strong.

It doesn't matter either way, I am just a sucker for investigating all of my stuff. Knowledge is power!

I’m new here, so not part of that fountain of wisdom, but, any chance it’s their Pakkawood? That’s what it kind of looks like from your photo.

If it's a 70's or before - an easy way to tell is if the shield is pinned ... if it is pinned, it's bone.
