Nice hatchet with the crown logo and a barely visible GBA beneath on one side.
On the other side it appears to read 3 8 3. What is the meaning of those numbers -- 3 1/2 lb head? Although this wouldn't make sense given the weight of head and handle is 2 lbs 12 oz.

And any ideas as to the age of this hatchet?

Note: I reached out to Granfors Bruk but they aren't responding during the pandemic.

Thanks in advance for any information.

70's+.
They make premium axes today. but they used to be responsible for the cheap imports.
Good steel, just not the premium quality of axe they're making today.
