The 2006 Catalog says the Gran'pa series was made with "carbon steel" blades. Would anyone happen to know which carbon steel? 1095, 1085...

Thanks,
Frank

Thank you, sir.

(I won an auction for a "two-blade pocket" Gran'pa. It was not so labeled, but I recognized it from the Catalog.)

Carbon V would be especially sweet. Of all the blade steels I have sampled (and I have sampled a lot of them), 0170-6C is the one that I find to have the best combination of the properties that I desire in a pocket knife.

But 1095 would be just fine.

I have erred. Looks like a Gran'pa, but the tang is stamped Remington. I know that Camillus made a series like this and the seller advertised it as Camillus, not Remington. Either way, I like it. here it is with a Camillus 3 3/4" trapper in non-stainless. (I like it, too.)
