Not sure if that is the right spelling--I posted a question a few days ago about good chopping knives, and several people replied with comments about Gransfor Bruk Axes. I have never heard of them before, and am not able to find anything on the net about them. Can someone please post some info, or a link?

thanks

Matt

I have owned the Hunters Hatchet as listed on the webpage provided by Cliff Stamp. I can attest to it's quality and I can safely say that it is probably one of the best non-custom made axes I have ever had the pleasure of handling. It holds an edge exceedingly well and is very nicely balanced.
It is definitely worth the money. A good buy all the way if you're looking for a good camp/trekking axe.

I have the hunters axe also...it makes short work on butchering a moose..you can't go wrong with these fine cutting tools..

I second Cliff's recomendation of

Dieter Schmid the owner if a friend and customer of mine here in Berlin and he's a really good guy. I know he just got some additional models of these axes in stock and will have them on his site late next week.

And with the super strong US$ at DM 2.15 the time is right to order from Germany. hint hint

Thanks to all for the information. One thing that I would like to ask though---how does everyone feel about the Marble's axe--the one in the newest Russel catalog? How does it compare to the Gransfer Bruk models?

thanks

I remember seeing one at a gunshow and thinking that it looked kinda tiny. But I don't know if it was a new one or an old one in mint condition. The #9 they are currently making has a 14" handle on it so that's not too bad. I think I would handle one, though, before buying, or at least talk to someone that owns one.

I do believe the Marble's is significantly smaller that the GB Wildlife hatchet. Personally, I don't have a Marble's but I find the GB very useful, size-wise.
