I have a newly-made GB hatchet that I dearly love; super sharp from the store and had a haft that's perfect in length.
But, you people have got me a hankering for a full-size axe and I'm wondering about the quality of GB back in the day when they ground and painted their heads. I've heard that the quality was far less than it is today and that you should shun their painted heads. Any truth to this? Can they be salvaged if I find one at the flea market? Anything to look for?
I should never have ventured into this forum. You guys have started an entirely new addiction that I surely didn't need!
