I need to buy a sharpening stone for my boyfriend who collects Gransfors Bruks axes. I found two on boundarywaterscatalog.com and imaginegear.com. One says Gransfors Bruks Axe Sharpening Stone and the other Gransfors Bruks Axe Ceramic Sharpening Stone. The info on both are the same and I am at a loss as to which one would work best for him. I'm sorry I really don't know much about this, but I really want to get the right one for him. Advice? The regular or ceramic?

Another Lansky Puck lover here. I've been using mine since 2007 and the double grit combo is probably the most practical for sharpening. It lasts a long time and is very easy to pack. They go anywhere between 5 and 15 bucks-just find a site that has them for 5.

if you're going to get a GB stone, get the not-ceramic version. it's a really nice stone that can be used dry or with water, making it much more on-the-go friendly than others like the lansky puck, norton axe stone, etc.

I love mine. got one in the closet as a backup for the future. yes, I have a problem.
