Hello,

I'm thinking about buying the Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe.
I would be using it mainly for chopping limbs for shelterbuiliding and processing firewood.

Anyone got good or bad experiences with this axe?
Please let me know!

Greetings:)

i like mine. works well and its a good size for stapping to the ol' pack.

I think North Americans pay quite a bit of money for GB axes. Luckily in Europe we can get them for a very fair price (mine was £45, that's £8 cheaper than my KA-BAR machete cutlass!), if only for that reason I'd say buy one!

I was wondering, I'm also in the market for a maxpedition pack, something like the Sitka Gearslinger.
Has anyone allready tried to fit their Small Forest Axe to their packs?

Thanks in advance ;)

It's a great choice for an all-arounder. Love mine.

Jeff

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with mine! Its a go to tool in the woods for me!

Has ayone got some pics with their Small Forest Axe attached to their packs?

Has anyone of you ever had the axe head come off?
It has happened to me several times with other axes, not a nice experience.

no to the axe head coming off. Not a chance. Its on there tight.

Have mine for over a year now and have used it every season in the north woods. Just beeswaxed my edge cover and oiled the head. This little axe will fit INSIDE most three day packs for discreet carry. Great hand and a half axe you will love as much as I love mine.

My thoughts are similar to the others. One of my favorite tools. It fits nicely inside my Osprey 24 liter pack, or straps to the outside if I'm not being discreet.

Bushman, where did you get your Ax chest rig? What is on the front side?

What you have is exactly what I've been looking for, for ages! Tell me more please.

Here's a shot next to my pack.

I like the axe a bunch. Enough not to let anyone else use it :D
I did buy it a good while ago when the price was around $60.
