I recently bought a Gransfors Bruks Small Hatchet, model 410.
The craftsmanship is outstanding. I almost feel guilty using it!

I now look forward to buying the Small Forest Axe.

Woah!
That thing is smaller than I expected.
What do you think it's best suited for?

I own one of these hatchet's and have it permanantly strapped to my pack, I wouldn't go on a trip without it.

They are brilliant for camp chores, I use mine for anything from splitting kindleing, to carving. I've even used it to skin a deer.

It's one of the few axes I've seen which you could actually shave with. In fact the more I think about it, I reckon I use my hatchet more than any knife I carry when I'm out in the Great Outdoors. It really is a versatile tool. In my humble opinion anyway.:D

It looks small, but it's an AMAZING chopper for its size, and it's about as classy a hatchet as there ever was. It'll fit in the hip pocket of my jeans effortlessly, making it the ultimate survival 'knife'. It and my SAK Pioneer are the woodswalking team I rely on without hesistation...

Got one, it's my Sunday-Go-To-Meetin' dress hatchet.

I switch it off with a Greco as an edc
