I have a question that I've tried to ask CRK (via email and personal message) but have gotten no response.

Hopefully someone from CRK will read this.

Here's my question:

I recently acquired a large graphic Sebenza. It's a very nice knife, but I'm not crazy about the fact that the clip-side scale is not finished in the same fashion as the graphic-side scale.

Would it be possible to have the clip-side scale polished, so as to better
match up with the other scale? If so, how much would this cost?

I'd say almost certainly. In fact you could probably do it yourself relatively safly by dissasembling, then going through succesive higher grit polishing paper.

Thanks for the advice, Dave. However, I've never done anything like that. What would it entail?

It will depend a bit on what's available to you.

Firstly I'd practice of a piece of common hardware store steel of some kind first. The basic technique would be to buy a few sheets of wet & dry abrasive paper starting at about 330 grit and moving finer 600, 800, 1000, 1500. Start with the course and sand all in one direction, lightly. When the surfce is uniform move to the next finer grit, etc. By the time you get to 1500 it won't be mirror like, but it will defintely be polished.

I used a medium piece of green steel wool substitute and it will give the TI a Matte finishi in just a few minutes. You might want to start there, that might be a bigger enough change from the bead blast.

Here is two links that discuss polishing:

I had the same discussion with Mindy a few months ago about a knife that I wanted to order. They absolutely will not polish the backside of the handle. I asked if they could at least polish the backside like they do for the wood enlayed models. They wont do it.

Personally, I think that the knife looks unfinished with the backside the way it is while the frontside of the handle is polished with a graphic. It's for that reason I did not want to put $600+ dollars into a producion EDC and, therefore, I did not order my first Sebenza.

However earlier today, I did finally place my order with Mindy for my first Sebenza for a neat deep etched, non-colored graphic type large Sebbie, with the help of Mindy. Some of the graphic will be on the backside of the handle as well. :D

I sure hope this is as good a knife as all you guys keep talking about. :D

Thanks for the info, guys. I don't understand why I have been unable to get an answer directly from CRK, though.
