First I wanted to say thanks to everyone that responded to my last question about the Glass ceramic it really is Great .Now I wanted to know if anyone has tried the Graphite Platen backing & if it was any good or worth trying.

The problem with graphite backing is that the graphite is soft and will wear unevenly as you grind over it, it's good at keeping friction down, but not the best for your grinds flat.

I purchased some, tried it, quit using it.
Justin "hit the nail on the head", IMO, it just didn't work for me when doing flat grinds on blades either.
If anyone posts otherwise, I'd bet they are using fresh belts often, grinding before heat treat, maybe using pretty rigidly backed belts,and/or not applying alot of pressure....or maybe doing a convex rather than flat grind on their blade....I'd be interested to know also.
