Graphite tape trick

The only problem of graphite tape is that it becomes uneven fast after you start grinding blades on it.
I spent 5 minutes hammering a piece of graphite tape before I glued it on platen. I am on a second blade and it's still perfectly flat.
 
I checked my graphite covered plate against flat granite surface. It has about 0.001" depression in the middle where I grind. I can live with that for benefits graphite provides.
