And one know where i can find hand graving chisels for sale? I am not having the best of luck and am about to attempt making my own.

Thanks
Mike

There are different materials , high carbon, high speed steel, and carbide gravers .The high carbon is limited for non=ferrous softer metals , high speed steel for soft steels and carbide for hardened steel.
Practice sharpening them and keep them very sharp.

When you say hand engraver chisels.... do you mean hand engrevers or hammered burin chisels?
I have large sets of hand engravers that I may be selling.
email me for more info.

Stacy-
I may be interested in some of your gravers.

I separated them and a lot of other supoplies and tools into assortments two years ago, and never put them on the Exchange - tempus fugit.
I'll get them out and take the photos. I need to clear some stuff out before the new shop gets underway. I'll let you know when I get photos taken.

Awesome Stacy, thanks. I got your email, and think i would like to have some hand engravers and some of the chasing hammer style also. I thought about purchasing an AirGraver, but i have more and different uses in mind than just engraving. The chasing hammer gravers i want to start carving a tsuba, i have the materials to make the shibuichi, and want to get that smelted within the next few weeks. My plan is to eventually carve my own full set if fittings for a katana....then actually make the katana lol. Maybe we can get something set up and i could pick some stuff up at Ashokan.
