Alright, found a great Benchmade dealer brick and mortar and am driving an hour and half to get back there wednes or friday. I've decided to buy a 32 Morpho there, but I figure I might as well pick up a second Benchmade for the trip.

I'm torn over the 425 and 635. The 635 is the perfect size, and I prefer a spyderhole, but I just love the scales on the gravitator. I wish they'd make a new axis lock model that I could get into...

I've never liked the Skrimish design or the fact that the opening hole was used without permission or credit given to Spyderco.

That being said, I love the aggressive, pointy wharncliffe blade on the Gravitator and the look of the handles. It one of the only BM folders that really grabs me.

Any knife design influenced by Mike Snody is worth serious attention, in my opinion.

Regardless of blade design, Snody's handle designs are outstanding combinations of function and art.

I apologized to Mike Janich for crediting Snody for the handles of the Spyderco/Janich Ronin to Snody - but I think Snody's influence on handle design of the Ronin is difficult to deny.

The Ronin is a classic in my eyes.

Well, yeah, the Yojimbo is easy to get confused on since he made the prototype. I made the same mistake myself quite awhile back. It's a weird combination of snodyism and spyderco....but I'd definitely believe that it was created in his mind.

I had mini-scirmish and snodys , well , it's 2 different knives totally

mini-scirmish is looks more classy , the waved blade improves the cutting quality.

but Snody is definatelly interesting with their handles , I'd say go for both :)))

What is with all the Gavitator Vs. XXXknife and Gravitators are cool threads lately AM?

Its pretty obvious that you want a Gravitator, just buy one already!

LOL!

Yeah, sorry about that....I'm just having a really difficult time deciding between knives lately...I'll be definitely buying one in person, inescapably, this Friday, so everyone will get a break. I've put enough scrap together to get two benchmades, I figure, which makes things slightly easier on me. But one of those is reserved for the morpho...

I definitely DO want a gravitator, it's more a matter of placement...which knife first. I've been dying to get another axis lock too, but there are so few axis lock knives that I like a lot...so axis locks may have to wait a little while until I see something I like more...

I've been "ready" to buy knives several times now, where I would have called NGK and made it happen already, but through weird timing, something comes up when I am about to call NGK, I have to wait a weekend and by then I'm either less certain or have changed my mind completely.

I'm not normally so indecisive.

You won't regret buying the Gravitator, it's a fine knife...

But I guess it comes down to your own personal taste, because I can't warm up to the Mini Skirmish. I like the full sized Skirmish but the mini is kind of plain (IMO).

If it helps, the beveled nature of the "thieved" Spyderhole makes the feature on the Skirmish much more difficult to use. It is often difficult to get a solid purchase on it when thumbing it open, particularly because of the knife's large size.

I vote Gravitator on this one.

Yep, makes it hard to open reliably. That's the main reason I don't carry mine much. I carry and use my Gravitator/Hybrid quite a bit.

Well said.

The 635 is a good knife but the opening hole is just too slippery.

If this knife came with an 806 oval or 710 studs it could have very good. With a real Spyderco thumb hole it would be great. Dang, it could even have been made tip up and waved, easily, and that would be spectacular.

Gravitator or 635... how about one of the better Axis lock knives instead.

Well, the problem with the axis lock knives is, quite simply, I don't like them overall as much as the non axis knives. I'd prefer the grav and the 635 in an axis lock model, but....not available to me unfortunately.

I know it's not on you list, but why don't you check out the BM 420 Resistor too (if they have it). It's also a Snody design....

It's an Axis Lock and also an interesting design. I like mine just as much as my Gravitator....
