Gray G-10 Jester

Actually I mine should be arriving tomorrow. I was planning on doing a unboxing video.

Just got one today. Very nice little knife, although I still prefer the burgundy micarta one I've been carrying for over eight years. Screw construction, so the scales should be fairly easy to replace or smooth down and polish if textured grey G-10 doesn't excite you.

that is a nice looking little folder...wonder if it can replace my ladybug as a key-ring knife.
It's about twice as heavy and a hair thicker than the FRN Ladybug, but otherwise the handles are identical in shape. Personally, I prefer the Jester's blade over the Ladybug's because I find the forward finger rest quite useful.

Hi Paul,

Did you finally get the one we sent, or was that one messed up as well?

Guess I owe you one.

Hi Sal, the only one I have is the one I ordered from New Graham, along with a Sage IV. Did you ever get the second email I sent with my mailing address?

Paul,
I am wondering if gray jester will replace burgundy one?

Paul,

Hi Roman, To be honest, I don't see that happening for several reasons.

First being weight. My unlined burgundy micarta Jester weighs 20 grams. That's only 2 grams heavier than an FRN Jester. The lined G-10 version weighs 32 grams, which is only 2 grams less than the SS Jester and over half again as heavy as the micarta. Not a big deal in my pocket, but I like to keep the weight of my keys as light as possible for when they're dangling in the car's ignition. Second being my general distaste for peel ply G-10. I'd either have to replace the scales or, at the very least, smooth and polish them. Lastly, but as important as the other two, the micarta one has served me well for over eight years and still looks as classy and cuts as well as ever. It would take something super special to bump it off my key ring. Granted, the steel in G-10 Sprint version is "better", but for the amount of cutting I do with my micarta one, AUS-6 works just fine.

Thank you Paul.
My thoughts are the same. My orange Ladybug disappeared during one of my trips, so I am thinking about replacement. VG10 vs AUS6 is not my concern for this knife. I sharpened my Ladybug may be twice a year, not much of the use. I love burgundy micarta. With all my love to liners, I do not feel that I need them on key-chain knife. IMHO the best thing on the Jesters are handle and the bladeshape. On both knives they are the same.
