Grayman knives has been known for its rugged, overbuilt, and near unbreakable fixed blades for some time. The next step of course was a folder and the Satu does not disappoint.

Like many Grayman knives the Satu is massive. It makes other knives look like toys in comparison.

With a CQC-7

With a Super CQC-8...yes a SUPER!

Each is individually numbered out of the intial run of 50

Its certainly heavy duty and came with a good working edge but not shaving sharp. I was able to get it shave easily with a diamond file and ceramic rod.
Some notes of interest are that it takes some time and patience to find the sweet spot with the pivot, where it opens easily but doesn't have enough play for the tip to rub on the liner while opening. The lock up was early and good.
The clip is very tight, a good thing for the very active (running, jumping, etc) and may also have been designed to prevent overtravel of the lockbar but that's more speculation. I'd like to see a MOLLE compatible sheath offered for it but beyond that I'm very satisfied.

Thanks for the info.
While it is a folding knife, it is really stretching the limits of what can be considered a "pocket" knife.

I've carried it in the pocket and it wasn't a difficulty but yes, this really is better in a sheath.

It's big, but it's not Cold Steel big. Therefore, I don't think I'd have a problem carrying it in pocket. Thanks for the review.

Lil trivia. The word 'satu' means 'one' in Indonesian.

Two questions: How much does it weigh? And how much does it feel like it weighs? Some knives are heavy but "ride" or carry well...how's this big fella handle?
TC

It weighs 10oz but rides pretty well. You definitely won't forget it's there, but I carried it without issue for about 2 weeks. The clip does a very good job of keeping it stable.

I have number 07 Satu and I swear by it. It is my edc and it blows away other knives, including Striders. I have owned Emersons (lots of customs), Striders (customs), Carrillos and Farids (although the Farids are up there in heavy duty quality and design) and this thing is a beast. I have dumped most of my other knives (except for the Farids and a handful of Custom Emersons) and swear by Graymans. I currently have a 7.5" Mega Pounder, Grax, 7.5" Sub-Saharan, and an older style (mercworx era) Warrior.

Looks don't mean anything. Graymans are GREAT!!!

Awesome sharpei.

Nice knife :eek::thumbup:

but... more pics, more pics, more pics, more pics, more pics, more pics :D

Just FYI, Grayman sold out of these last week. They went like hot cakes! I have yet to hear from anyone who was disappointed. Let's hope there is a second run, but with a different blade design based on one of the fixed blade knives.

Yes its true that this knife is a beast I bought one. But there is one problem that comes with this knife, for $375. there is no warranty that comes after the 30 day return policy is up your on your own. To me that is BOGUS! A custom knife maker that doesn't stand behind his knives is a BOGUS knifemaker. This no-warranty only comes with their folding knives but they will fix or replace their fixed blades for free forever. Sure, 1095 steel is cheap to replace, but cpm30v is expensive. Look elsewhere there are many knife companies and custom knifemakers out there to chose from that will stand behind their knives especially in that price category.

no. the Satu is also warrantied for life.

"Jeepdud3" Have read the warranty statement at Grayman website on folding knives. There isn't anything that is stated what is covered under the warranty plus I emailed them about the warranty to see what's covered and Sue emailed me back and said only the 30 day return and nothing else.

i just copied this from their warranty page? i guess this could be taken several ways, i will also call i don't like no warranty.
FIXED BLADE WARRANTY

Your Warranty goes like this:

Free sharpening anytime. You pay postage, and I'll sharpen her up and send her right back. If you break it (yeah right) send it back and I'll fix or replace it post haste. If you sell it, give it away, or will it to a family member or fave charity, the warranty goes with it.

If you don't like it because it's ugly (like me), or your wife hates it, or the little voices in your head tell you to send it back, zip it back to me within 90 days for a prompt refund.

Grinding modifications will void your warranty and we don't do custom modifications on our knives.
