Crazily enough, I was furniture shopping with my wife at Cost Plus World Market, when, lo and behold, I see some knives.

Amazing! Imported Japanese high-carbon (non-stainless) santoku in pakkawood handle.

The thing cuts like a bizatch. I can put it on tomatoes and cut through with the weight of the knife (and a slight nudge). I can chop lettuce (instead of slice) and I see nary a bruised or torn edge.

This is the FACTORY EDGE (!).

It outcuts my $120 german knives at 1/8th the price.

You heard me. Your cost? $15.99

Whew.

Insane.

Thanks for the tip, I bought the santoku and sashimi knives for $32, great deal. These knives are thin, distal tapered, with no primary bevel. Nice sharp knife for the kitchen.
