I didn't head out until late this afternoon for a 5 mile hike. Rain was in the forecast and I was hesitant to take my camera along. I was glad that I did. The wildlife was very active in the pre-storm environment. I took a photo of a bird that I've never encountered in south central PA. before.
It's a Brown-Headed Cowbird. I also caught a whitetail deer just before it vanished into some very thick brush. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Very cool. I like the startled look of the deer, popping its head out of the underbrush.

I had a split second to take that photo. She didn't hang around long. The quality of the photos is not very good. I only have an 18- 55 mm lens for that camera and I had it set on the highest setting for digital zoom which is not conducive to a good photo. I had just gone up a steep incline and the camera wasn't real steady in my hands. I was just glad to see what I did.
