This is a great time of year over here for foraging. I'd only been on the trail a few minutes when I found these mini plums:

There were also Salal bushes along the trail:

And lots of little tasty Huckleberries:

I then decided to have a Rambo moment and do a little rough crafting with my Booshway:

Did I mention that Mark now makes a mini Booshway !!!;)

The knife seems to be growing on you the more you use it.

I've seen more wild food that I recognize this year then last. Only a few minute things here and there, but I have noticed them nonetheless.

I really like that Knife. Nice spear to, howd you tie off the vine at the bottom to get it to hold.

Great Pics 'Ol Bud ! looks like you had plenty of fruit on your walk :D Nice spear to  The pitana on the Booshway is looking good !

Great pics, pit.

This has been the best year for foraging that I can recall. Leek season was great. The wild strawberry, raspberry and blackberry crops were intense along the Bruce Trail, and I spent many an outing foraging and feasting. The apple crops (Collingwood, where I usually hike, is apple country) are also coming in strong and many are already edible. You would be hard pressed to starve if lost in the wilds of Blue Mountain ;) . I have yet to come across any wild blueberries, though.

All the best,

- Mike

Hi pitdog -

Very nice pictures as always.

I like that design of knife, the handle looks like it would be very comfortable.

Thanks for posting.

best regards -
