Well our get together went really well today. We started about 8am, and wrapped it up about 5:30 this afternoon. BushcraftBrainTrust brought his JRE combo sheath and anvilbuck brought some of his incredible forged hawks and knives. He also gave us a brief demo on firestarting with flint and steel using charcloth. BushcraftBrainTrust brought his prototype fire starting kit too, which I`m sure he will post pics of later. Also here to learn a little about knifemaking were Old Painless and Randy D. After I ground out everyone`s own design Freebie Tin knives (anvilbuck ground his own) I heat treated them. While they were in the tempering oven we had a nice cookout for lunch. When they were done I put their choice of handles on them and made sheaths. Thanks guys, I had a ball, and really enjoyed meeting you all. We are already planning our next get together!

I should be the most grateful one. I didn't bring anything and all I did was learn. It was so fun, thanks guys and special thanks to you John for your incredible generosity. Especially in light of the increasing retreat-ism and privatization in society that we talked about. It's nice to know that there are guys like you out there willing to have people over, grill for them, make them free knives, and on top of that, teach them how to do it for themselves with no obligations put upon us whatsoever.
I feel really really grateful. I hope to pay it back AND pay it forward someday.

So...Forging and Firemaking... LET'S DO THIS!
