Great Disappointment

Ordered a 15 this week simply from browsing these threads. Wasn't planning on it, had my favorites picked out that I know I want to get. Then of course also came the news that they're going bye-bye. Read another thread about how great and wonderful they are, and said why not. 15 over 5 simply due to cost. If I miss the boat on the 5, so be it.

So of course I'm tracking the every move on FedEx. By noon it was 3.5 hours away. 3 hours later it was just over 2 hours away. 6 hours later it's on the move again. Check the top of the page: Estimated Delivery - Monday. Two days of no activity and it will probably be within an hour of my house. Can BF hand out any delivery-karma?

I guess I'll have to start up the Follow the Leader challenge and play with the 24 instead.

Welcome to the addiction! ;)

Delivery speed is inversely proportional to how anxious you are for its arrival.

In such cases, you need to switch to the 'sour grapes' attitude - meh, didn't really want it anyway - and it'll arrive tomorrow.

I feel your pain, it's a regular occurrence for me. But when you get it ahh sweet relief, your gonna love that blade, you can use it every night for dinner as well, great knife for food I say.

Sending you some delivery Karma from gods country.

morning update: it's in transit to my city! City's Post Office. Stupid FedEx Smart Post. no chance it's showing up on my doorstep today. good news is my outdoor trip isn't planned until next week, but dang it, I want new toys to play with now.

You could try contacting your post office and picking it up there. They do deliver on Saturday so there's hope. I posted this before but I feel it fits...

I know what you mean about the tracking, it can drive you crazy sometimes. I had a package full of Beckers that was shipped from a thousand miles away and made it to a town a 100 miles away and they kept trying to deliver it there and then carrying it back to the Post Office in the evening for three days as undeliverable, it finally made it to me seven days after it shipped, yes I called the PO a few times !!! I guess all of the shippers do real good with the amount of stuff that's shipped these days. Since I'm an older person, I remember having to order something via mail (yep, I was ordering things before they had call stations) and waiting for the letter to arrive to them and then them to ship the product to me, sometimes it was six weeks before getting it. Then later on someone decided you could call them and they would send it out and get paid COD, talk about speed, I could then get something within three weeks !!!! BTW, when I was in school, we had to learn how to write a letter to order something, sure that hasn't happened in a long time.

how about writing a a post to have something delivered? wife just sent me a text that I have a package waiting for me. I have only Gassy to thank for this.

Now for the second part - what do I do with the rest of the work day that is now ruined?

That's why they call it the Big Brown Truck of Joy!

I agree with those who have opined that tracking is one of the cruelest tortures devised for the knife enthusiast.

Just wait until they have GPS or some sort of live tracking available so you can literally watch your parcel progress towards it's final destination...

"Oh yeah, almost here... Wait... What's the driver doing, stopping at Burger King!?! I'm getting in my car and telling him to hurry up!"

My bad, NCSlice. Yes, it was my package. Though some of the disappointment still lingers - no one else in the family wanted the brown handles on there. Played with it last night, cuts like a dream (slicey!). somehow I ended up with a small little bald spot on my arm right out of the box, but man that coating is a lot thicker than i was expecting.

usps tracking is ridiculous. when i ordered my 15 it went back and forth around the southern states, then to toronto and canada customs, then back to florida. wtf? the seller then tells me intentional sales get screwy with the tracking. i don't know if my knife actually physically got shuffled around or not, but i was losing my crap until it showed up.

The 15 is my favorite Becker and probably my favorite knife. Just perfect for my day to day needs. I'm looking at buying another at the prices they are now, you can't go wrong!
