took it out of tube & hit blue diamond [d.m.t.] a little ==went toranch for 2 days & tried this toothy edge on green mesquite , old dried mesquite. brought home & cut up 5/3.5 2.5 cardboard box.those dim. are feet not inches.knife is a clone rem.single blade bullet made 20s to 40s .wanted to try out ole timey design [beat. knife ] card was 275 lb. per inch burst .hell of a lot of tuff stuff ==some double thick.would have to stop & give another push so as to cut through.all box edges were reinfoced with strapping tape.knife wouldnt shave hair after workout however i didnt start with shavi ng edge.would still cut card. well.went to lo-ray model m30 with 1/3 h.p. motor, not made now for many yrs.,put more acute bevel on ,went to d.m.t. red then green diamond, stropped on cardboard.now i know many of you guys would have lapped down to 100,000 dia. mirrow edge.however at 58 r.r. it was scary sharp to me not going to throw out the doziers or m4 mule but will try it on whitetails soon. besides its great to be using one of the old time clsssic patterns.

Writing style is a bit staccato, but I followed you - I love the GEC 73 scout for pocket carry it's a great-looking and great-feeling sharp knife! The 23 is a bit big for me in the city but out in the field it would be a great working folder.

They are great knives; heavy duty for sure. Sounds like you know how to put one to the paces and how to get your preferred edge on it. Please report back after hunting season.

Dennis,
Although following your thoughts without punctuation is tough, I really enjoy reading what you write. I can tell you have gained much wisdom from life experience. While reading your posts, I cannot help but imagine it is being written/narrated by Boomhaur from King of the Hill.
Stay golden Mr. Strickland!

Sir,

Try pressing "Enter" after each sentence for puntuation
It would make it much easier to read

let me try to be clearer, slightly honed blade on d.m.t. blue diamond.
went to ranch & cut some weeds, green mesquite,& dry old mesquite.
came home & took a 5 ft. box by 3.5 ft.& 2.5 feet with additional pieces inside box & cut the box to size to fit in trash can.
cardboard was 275# burst strength with strapping tape reinforcement at all sides & all seams.
cardboard was tuff & some cuts required me to get another grip on surface to finish cutting thru.
after i was done ,knife would not shave, but edge did'nt shave before the ranch
& before cardboard.
rebeveled blade to more acute angle, honed on d.m.t. red diamond, then green dia.& then stropped on cardboard.
edge became as sharp as any murray carter, custom hunters, or b.m. & spydercos i own.
will try on deer in nov. & give field report.this pattern is one of the great old timey favorites.
was fun to use one of the old classics in modern times.
i hope you can understand this comment.

Cool Dennis. Second version was easier to understand. I for one appreciate you doing your best to make your message more clear, others could benefit from your persistence and efforts.

Let me give you one piece of advice, because I type a ton of stuff assuming people understand me and I fail. I tutored secondary English students in college and this is the best thing I used to teach people:

Proofread what you write from the perspective that you are a stranger, and have zero idea what the message is about. If it makes sense, and you can't find a critical question about the details of a subject, other reader's will understand you just fine.

If anyone would like help writing clear easy to read posts, feel free to contact me.
I can help with avoiding difficult to decipher jargon, abreviatons, and run on sentences.
