I just bought this GEC cigar in 440c and I was wondering if anyone with experiance with their SS would care to express an opinion on its edge holding, ease of sharpening, etc.

I'm also interested in why GEC went with 440c instead of 154cm for example. I assume its because they're producing vintage style knives and 440c was the premium blade steel from another era but I just guessing.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to what I think will be a fine addition to my slippie collection.

440C is a good steel that will hold an edge and it's easy to sharpen. :)

Thanks Ankerson. Let me be more specific. How is GEC 440c? I have an idea about 440c in general...however, I'm interested in this company's efforts with it. Do they do their own HT? Is it anything special as say Paul Bos 440c would be?

I didn't see that they talk about steel in detail on their website so I'm assuming the steel is not the main focus in their product but again I'm just guessing.

I never heard or read anything negitive so I would guess that is a good thing. :D

Not sure about their HT though, I am guessing the farm it out.
