Hi everyone I'am kinda new to traditional folders so just a little question for you guys.Really like GEC knives especially tidioute brand.Trying to purchase one either lockback or a slip joint around 2.5-3 ",with a single blade and I really like green or orange handles.Which models am I looking for,any recommendation. Thanks for any help.

Do you favor any particular blade shape or handle material? The 72 lockbacks would be a good choice. I think a few of the orange handle 71 bullnose may still be available as well.

Drop point or wharncliffe for blade shape and bone, mother of pearl and I like those jade green handles.

Checked those #72 they are nice ,even spear point looks great too.And I think I prefer 1095 to 440 c steel.Like some acrylic handles are they ok for edc duties as per chipping and durability?

hmm. 3" blade length opens up nearly the entire catalog. I'm a big fan of the #53/#54 cigar frames. 4.25" closed, main blade abound 3" and many diff blade configurations.

I'm pretty sure GEC did these in Tractor Green bone and Kryptonite green acrylic.
Not sure on the orange. As mentioned there was a #71 Bullnose (sodbuster) in orange. Pretty sure there was a harvest acrylic, but don't know the frame #.

Hope this helps.

The #85 is really hard to beat. I think I've seen some available just recently with green jigged bone scales too. The 85 is a huge favorite of mine, I have two of them and love them.

What do you guys think of #72,73 and #23 are they popular as well.Looks like #23 is the early design.

The 72/73 is a great size single blade. The 23 I think is a little bigger than what you were looking for.

+1
The 72 is 3 7/8" closed
the 42 lockback is 4 1/4" closed
the 23 is 4 1/2" closed

Do have have any preference for the amount of pull required to open the knife? The lockback models will be easier to open than the regular slip joint models when comparing a 72 and a 73.

Not really I like both slips and lock backs. Are those sizes for size closed or blade length?

Those sizes are the closed lengths

Also I noticed there are both a 72 and a 73 that just got posted up in the exchange if your interested.

The 73 Single Blade Scout is GEC's most popular pattern. Described by many as "The Perfect Pocket Knife". They have a strong pull at about 7 or 8 on a scale from 1 to 10.

Yes #73 is the model Iam leaning towards the most.
