What is the difference between:

Great Eastern
Northfield
and
Tidioute

Do they all come out of the same factory?

I believe they do.

But Great Eastern tends to come in stainless, whereas Northfield UNX-LD and Tidioute are carbon steel knives, Tidioute also offers single blade knives such as the Beaver Tail.

Whats the skinny on this company/these knives. I am looking for a slippie for myself and one for a pal for Christmas. The pictures and specs look great, is it too good to be true?

There awesome I got my first one today. I got the Tidioute #73 Natural Canvas Micarta. One of my fav. slipjoints now. I plan on getting a few more of there knives.

The 3 I have are very good but they are large knives so this can limit their carry for some. Just noticed they do a small fixed blade in a kind of Outer style, just hope the vendor does international trade:D

I have the same model. It arrived yesterday & I'm impressed. Solid build. Good walk & talk. Sharp as sharp from the box. Apparently, mine is one of, I think, 40 that got out of the factory before an error was spotted. The model number etched on the spey blade is "73EC" instead of just "73". But a great knife. David

A few weeks ago someone posted photos of the new Great Eastern fixed blade traditional American-styled hunting knives. But I can't find them at any of their dealers. Are they sold out already, or not delivered yet?

Looks like I am going to have to get them then.

There is a fantastic looking single blade with a clip point, not my first choice normally, but this clip has great lines.

Any good dealers that will hand check and ship International?

Dave, The "EC" signifies end caps, which are the "bolsters" on the end of the handles. The bareheads have just the number with no EC.

They are only going to go up in price. 2007 production was greater than 2006. Most 2006 models are getting harder to find. They are still out there if you know where to look.

I have a Tidioute SARPNT which is a BIG knife and a Northfield scout with walnut herringbone handle on the way.

Fit and finish on these is excellent. They come nice and sharp. IMHO the best carbon steel folders out there.

I got mine from Ben & Gloria at Pocket Knife World. Nice people & good service. I've bought a few from them and never been dissappointed.

For international orders you can try www.tsaknives.com

Just ordered a fixed blade from them so don't YET know how their service shapes up but Greg there replied very fast & efficiently to e-mail queries, does PAYPAL and charges moderate prices for international shipping. Has a good choice certainly & new stuff coming in.

Worth a look.
