Hey all, I just picked one of these up, and now wait for it's arrival. It was too cool to resist! It's a Great Eastern Cutlery Tidioute Linerlock Carved Pumpkin Bone Pioneer, 4 1/2 closed, 3 1/2 1095 blade.
Looks awesome, and the "pumpkin" bone doesn't hurt either. (I'm a bit of a Halloween nut) I've come to realize that the wiser I've become in knife using/collecting, that a nice 1095 and traditional style works as well or better than the tacticools that I had in the past. I don't really know what the point of this post is, I just wanted to share, since I'm pretty excited about it! :D

I picked up a Tidioute #23 last week.

Pretty much the same knife as yours, except without the liner lock and with wood scales.

I was very impressed with the build quality, and how nice and slim the knife is considering its length.

The blade did need a good bit of sharpening, though.
But it's a nice piece of steel and took a really good edge after a little work with a diamond hone.

Definitely a keeper; I think you're gonna be really pleased.

That is a sweet looking knife with nice looking bone. Enjoy!

I got a #73 last week, which is a bit smaller, but from the same company. Very nice workmanship. Good luck with it!

Very nice bone that:thumbup:

I've got the smaller No.73 Liner lock in Burnt Stag and it's getting a decent patina.

Looking forward to GE's new No.25 which is a smaller knife, reputedly a Barlow:D

nice looking Bone! I just ordered the 73 in burnt stag, and also last week got the new Moose Jack in Stag. I am looking forward to recieving these, I hear they are nice quality fit and finish. Although I am afraid of a killer spring, I hear they are tough to open. Hopefully not too bad.

And yes the new Barlow does look really cool.

Man that Barlow is sweet!

I just ordered a Model 73 UNXLD in Brimstone Bone with single blade this morning. I am looking forward trying this one out. The Barlow may be next on the list.

:)

Visited the GEC open house day Saturday, came away with one of the new Barlows, only 3 inches long but such a sweet looking knife. Pattern # 25 Serial No 23

MAN - that is really sweet looking! I like that pattern almost better than any Barlow I've seen...

I was asking about the GEC knives on here a while back, and I picked up two - one was a stag two blade model, and has very, very nice stag, but I didn't like the thickness of it, and I'm going to exchange it for a different material.

The other is the primitive bone w/ end cap, and it is truly a sweet knife indeed - and built like a tank.

GEC appears to be turning out some well built knives, and I'm glad to see them going a bit smaller.

When I was at the factory they were just finishing off some jigged bone versions of the Barlow, they looked real good too.

Great looking Barlow Russell! Looks like the trip was a success:thumbup::thumbup: I wish I'd have gone:(

Thanks for the replies guy's. Eric that sure is a trip out there across PA, I enjoyed it for the experience, I think GEC are really getting going excellent patterns, nice swedges on the blades and overall F&F are making them winners. The Barlow as you have noticed has Acrylic handles, as is xbxb's, Cigar Stockman, "love the swirls" not usually into Acrylic handles although I'm changing my mind, some of the patterns produced are really outstanding.

I wasn't into acrylics either however now I have a nice boker in a candy stripe and this cigar stockman. It appears to be very good material and the swirly stuff is really kind of cool. They call it Lava Lamp.
