I had this posted in the wrong place.
Thanks in advance
I recently purchased a Great Eastern knife, a Northfield #73. I had not heard of these knives before. From the information the seller gave me, they are being made by some people that used to work for Queen. The overall quality is good and from what I can gather from the internet, all of them are made in a limited number. The company makes just a few patterns, so this might be an easy collection to start.
Has anyone else had any experience with this brand or any more information about it.
I was just wondering.
Thanks

There are several threads on this subject. Searching this forum will bring you much information.

Welcome to our little corner.

I own three of the # 73 patterns two with end caps or bolsters, one with out, and I really like all of them, nice stout strong springs, nice heafty knife. And if you like carbon steel most of them have carbon ,except the ones with the acorn shield on them, there 440. I didn't like them when they first started up I had problems with the first batch of the bigger #23 pattern, they kinda had the heeby jeebys making them, which wasn't very nice on the two I got anyhow, but they just keep getting better and I think they are great. May I ask which one was you looking at SharpFella...Take care Mike

I am thinking about the Cuban Cigar Stockman and maybe either a #23 or another #73. They are all interesting and with the stories on the tubes, interesting reading also. I kind of like the single blades for something to put in a belt pouch, if only they were not limited production. If that is really true.

I purchased a #53 cigar stockman in snakewood. The main blade was easy to open and sharp. However, the 2 smaller blades were too tight. I could not open them with my nails. I had to exchange the knife. The dealer told me Great Eastern tends to have very strong springs.

Robb,

This topic with Rosconey has been done to death. Please contact him via pm or email or do a search on other topics related to this subject.

I don't want to turn this thread into something that belongs in Good, Bad, & Ugly.

Thank you all for your cooperation.

Not a problem, Robb and I appreciate your concern. It's just that these things can quickly speed downhill. Suffice it to say that some folks had some initial quality control and vendor issues with Great Eastern early on. I think much of that has been dealt with but I can't speak with authority.

Please feel free to carry on with the conversation but short of any diatribes against the company or vendors in this thread. (For those with particular issues.)

Again, my thanks for keeping it reasonable.

No problems with the 3 I have. Good finish and nice to handle.

Would be good to see them trying their hand at smaller knives in the future as they are quite heavy and bulky for some EC purposes.

Willgoy, I agree, something less than 3" in any pattern would be nice. I don't like to carry any knife over 3" that is not tactical. I have a large Case trapper that my son gave me I don't carry much for that reason.
