Well, curiosity got the best of me, snagged this one of Ebay tonight!

I gotta admit, I like the natural bone and I have always been a fan of 440C!

I am thinking about picking up this line of knives--will you do a review of it when you get it? I have seen some mixed reviews, but it looks to me like this is going to be a great American knife company.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I will give feedback when it gets here, hopefully won't be to long, the seller lives fairly close to my state.

Well, my knife FINALLY arrived, (note to Ebay sellers, when we pay for 3-5 day Priority Mail, DO NOT wait 7 days before you even get it in the mail!!!!!!!)

OK, rant mode off.

As for the knife, overall fit is really good, the blades are centered perfectly, both have STRONG backsprings and solid half-stops.

I would comment on the factory edges,.....if there were any. Someone made an attempt at a convex edge on both blades, but the failed miserably. Dull isn't even the word for it.

The bone handles are nice, they are well radiused along the top and bottom, but then left very sharp cornered around the end and near the end on the scrimshawed side, the last inch or so shows noticable buffing wheel marks and the bone there is a different color than the rest of the scales.

No 2 pins look alike, some are buffed even, some slightly proud, but not bad...sorta gives it a real "handmade" look.

The metal to metal fit is perfect, as is the bone to metal fit.

Cosmetically the knife could be a little better and the blades certainly needed better sharpening at the factory, but overall I am OK with this one.

I'll give it some sharpening and some pocket time and see how she goes!

EDIT:I forgot to mention that the NS bolsters are covered in fine scratches also, covering their entire surface.

are all 3 lines ( Great Eastern, Northfield and Tidioute) made by the same workers, or are there separate "teams" ? i have a Northfield # 73 in stag coming and i hope the person who worked on my edge is not the same one who did yours.

Don't know how they divide the labor, the more I handle this one, the less I like it.

Anyone had any experience with sending one back for work?

I have the #23 and #73 NF stags and a #73 NF Jigged walnut bone. I am really looking forward to picking up a #73 bone handled 2007 knife from GEC as well. I held back on these at first, but now the Bone #73 rides in my pocket more than some of my normal standbys.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your new knife LC, it's a shame though that it has scratches and is dull. I've got 3 Great Easterns and they all came scary sharp and I was rather excited since most of my collection is Schatt & Morgan's that come as dull as a coconut..

It sure seems to be a mixed bag on these new knives and you never know what quality knife you may end up with. I am a little saddened by that fact since the folks in charge of the new cutlery have 30+ years of experience working for Queen..?

just recieved my tidioute bakote wood-
sucker is big-

fit and finish arent anything to talk about-gaps between the scales and the liner, wood looks like it was buffed by a 3 thumbed blind monkey-like other guys, some pins look good other look to be chewed off by a employee maybe-
and it has to be the dullest knife i have ever held,i would have no fear of a child hurting himself with it-1 bolster has a big buff burn-

i guess the only thing done right was centering the blades

hard to believe these guys made knives before

i will be avoiding great eastern from now on-between the email from a top employee that a member received when asked about service and the crap shoot for a average quality piece-i say avoid

Maybe the ex-Queen employees that started GEC were the ones who defined the QC process at Queen?

As they say, not everyone is at the top of their class...

Personally, I have zero interest in this brand, at least until they get their act together.
