Not sure as to how to start this but here goes....

January 12 , 1997 My life changed and I gained HUGE respect towards Spydercos Endura model and Knives in general. To make a long story stort I became in engaged in a struggle with a man who was willing to take my life because I stopped him for shoplifting. In a few seconds my day went from calm to being filled with fear,Panic,Pain and sorrow..

The man, (John Darby) was taken to the hospital with 3 cuts that required some 300 stitches to close.He spent a week in the hospital and was transfered to the Duval county jail to serve his sentence. The day of his release he came back to the store looking for me..

As for me.. I walked away with severe bruizing to my neck and back, HIV/Hepatitis testing, pain while walking or moving from the Adrenalin shock to my muscles.. Today I have a wife,stepson and a amazing 23 month old Daughter.. If it wasent for that 4' friend who rode with me everywhere,opened gifts at my wedding and in the end saved my A** I would have missed a hell of alot ..The friend was somehow missplaced in evidence and was never returned or replaced..To this day Everyday,everywhere I go a Spyderco blade rides in my pocket and I will never be without one...

Endura Duck - Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Thanx for the story. Glad you came out OK and that we could help.

Sorry 'bout the bad guy. That was quite a punishment.

Appreciate that family! There is not much more valuable.

Endura Duck,
a harrowing tale but glad you came out on top. I hope I never find myself in the position you were in, but if I do I hope I have my Endura with me, that was some serious carving you did. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Be lucky,
Iain

Inspiring story Mr Duck! You knew what to do with the piece and it kept you going. I know I could always count on my trusty Enduras (;
