Somebody beat me to the Gool (says R10 on the sheath) on a DOTD last week, probably by mere minutes but Yangdu said she had another she'd let go for the same price. It showed up at my door in a couple of days, which is not surprising. What did surprise me was the knife itself. It's the thinnest HI I've ever had, very light, very nimble, and after a couple of minutes with a fine emery board would take off hair. This thing is a winner.

It's 10" OAL, 5" blade somewhere between 1/8" and 3/16" thick. Somewhere around 6-7oz. Nice pointy tip. It's a cutter, not a prybar. Although knowing the steel they use I'm guessing it's still tougher than many of the high tech stainless tactical knives that cost 10 times as much. If you haven't tried one of these yet I highly recommend it. No pics yet (I still have trouble with Heather's digicam).

Thanks, again, Yangdu. You've always been tops in my book. And this is my new favorite small blade.

Ahh, so the gool IS relatively thin. I pondered that in one of those DOTD threads but never found out. Personally, I still think a thin Kumar Karda would be awesome as a camp knife, and the gool would be great for woodcarvers I'd wager.

The R-10 might be, the Gool isn't. There seems to be a mix up between the two the last few times they were listed.

I have been interested in picking up a R-10 since the first one. Only recently have they been made again, so I may get a chance to get one yet. If you can get a picture I would sure be interested in seeing it.

Great news, You are very welcome Frank
