This weekend I heard about a knife store in Clemmons called "Blades By Brown Cutlery". So I went to check them out and was very pleasantly surprised. They carry a wide array of brands such as Case, Buck (Mayo and Strider), David Yellowhorse, Tops (Tracker), Lone Wolf (Loveless and Paul), CRKT, Kershaw, Timberline and SOG. They also carry some camping equipment and offer sharpening and other services as well. Dave, one of the guys who runs it, was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Go by and visit if you're in the area. I'm sure Dave or Steve (owner) will take great care of you. Here's a link that includes their physical address: http://www.bladesbybrown.com/index.htm

This place appears to be about an hour and half from me. Defiantly worth checking out someday Thanks!! I still have to check out Beck's Cutlery in Cary, NC sometime soon. I was happy being able to visit Outdoor World last weekend and handling a few knives in person. It was a rare occasion :)

Thanks for the info TraneFan. Clemmons is not that far. I may try and check them out this weekend.

BadGuy, do visit Becks. I been there a few times. They have a good selection, prices were what I exprcetd or better for a B&M store and treat you very well.

Thanks for the link TraneFan! I have friends outside of Winston, maybe next time I visit them I'll check out "Blades By Brown Cutlery". Thanks!!
Patsy at www.beckscutlery.com is great to visit with, and extremly helpful. I've known her for about 10 years now. I try to visit her store at least once or twice a year(when I can). I'll be seeing her soon, she will have my Spyderfly hopefully this month. :)

Another thumbs up for Beck's. I stop in once or twice a year when I'm up visiting relatives. Their prices are within $5-$10 of internet retailers on everything I've bought so far, and I think the difference is more than made up by being able to handle the knives before you buy, and by the amount of attention you get when you're in the shop.

They are nice folks. The last time I was there, maybe 12-18 months they were just getting into the "modern" knives. Previously they had carried only the traditional slipjoints and lockbacks by Case, Buck, etc.

Blades still has the slipjoints and the like but they are firmly in the realm of "modern" knives. You should go by and check them out.
