Great multi-use item: Rubber Cement.

I picked up a small tube of rubber cement to carry in my bag, I've found it's a great universal adhesive. Between it, paracord and some gorilla tape I can do pretty much all the 'bonding' I need to out in the field. I was going though my kit outside today on my lunch-break and noticed the "warning extremely flammable, keep away from flame"... and to my mind keep away from flame means... :D

This stuff will light with a spark and a dime sized blob put off a 4-5" flame for a few seconds, it burns lower for a good 20 seconds after. A finger sized tube is a great small item for your kit.

I'll try to get pics in the future here... i know you pyros want fire porn. No camera here at work, and the won't like me doing it on my desk.

Anyone here going to breath the smoke? Seriously? Same as burning ranger bands, or anything else.

It is what it is, figured this would interest people as a good multi use item.

I like ideas such as this one. But....
Doesn't this stuff dry out rather quickly? I thought it did, but truth be told, I have'nt used the stuff in a while; perhaps the quality is better now.
I was looking for something that has better longevity than regular super glue, and apparently this has more uses to boot.

I've had it open for about a month and it's still flowing well, opened it 5-6 times for various things and the cap has not seized up, does not seem to dry not exposed to air. So far so good, but if I wanted to keep it long term, it'd be best to keep it closed I suppose.

Not having used it before, I'm not sure how long it lasts?

I always have a tube of *fresh* contact cement in the camp box. For repairing holes, rips, tears in nylon or porous materials, it works very well. A good addition to the duct tape, sewing kit, etc. We buy the stuff by the gallon in the leather shop. My favorite brand is Weldwood.

Good stuff as long as one remembers it is perishable. I like to keep a hot glue gun stick in my gear. It can be melted with the flame of a butane lighter and bonds all sorts of stuff.

the glue stick idea is a good one too!!! (as if my edc bag wasn't full enough already. stop giving me good ideas you are going to give me spinal issues!!)

It's about what works for you. The glue stick is great and does not take up much room or weight. For me I just wanted an adhesive that i did not need to futz with, it happened to be a great fire starter too. I really should look into different types of glue stick and see what is out there. It be a great thing to add to small or pocket kits.
