Sometimes it's nice to have a get away that's close to home. For those spur of the moments. Here is Big Bear, CA. Not a "hardcore" outing but a great break and learning experience for the little ones. Here are some pics from last week.

Do I see a mustache-like object on your face, young man??

...or has a caterpillar gotten adventurous? :)

:p It's gone now but man... after not shaving for about 4 days my wife thought she was married to "grizzly adams". :p Well not that bad.

BTW: Sorry for the crummy pics. Our good camera got a dose of salt water on a recent kayaking trip.

Thanks for sharing the pictures! I've only gone all the way out to Joshua Tree, or all the way up to Kearnville/Sequoia Natl Park. Sometimes I overlook these closer places. Looks like the whole fam had lots of fun.

My dream is to get a job that will allow me to telecommute from a place near there at a little bit lower elevation.

If I can find that I wouldn't need to worry about buying a house in the ghetto with bad schools and I could do it for a lot less money!

Damn,if I did that I would have to ship my knives to Ban, that's no good.

Great pics, Tyr. I would love to have a few little ones running around so I could take them out with me. Hopefully soon...

As for the facial hair, about a week before school ended I stopped shaping up my goat/chinstrap, and it's driving my wife crazy...especially since I'm letting my hair grow back out.

When I found out I had cancer, I cut off about 15" of dredlocks I'd been growing for 4 years. I want them back and right now my head looks like there's a revolution going on atop it. Wifey says she wouldn't mind the wild hair if I shaved my beard but I AM going for the Grizzly Adams. :D Or maybe the Grizzly Marley.

That place looks good and must be fun spending it with your family. Your son looks like a future hog.

Looks like a fun outing Tyrkon! Thanks for sharing! Love Big Bear!!! We've got it all in S. Cali :D, the mountains, the desert, the ocean and of course....mexico.

Looks like a great trip. I am going to be in Big Bear for the 4th, should be a good time.

Big Bear is great. And there's plenty of places to get lost in the Angeles Crest - especially if you go at an off time like "winter" or during the week.

Thanks guys. Its just nice to have a little get away that doesn't require an 11 hour drive in the mini-van with the kids. ;)

And they really love the outdoors. Plus, just another opportunity to use some INFI. The FFBM performed wonderfully. :D

Your pics bring back some good fishing, hiking, and camping memories from when PapaThud would take us up there. I haven't taken my girls to Big Bear yet, but they love the botanical gardens at the local university, so I figure it's just a matter of time. :)
