A little while back I was lucky enough to win this great book in a giveaway from Hale Storm. It was an outstanding read, and I would say a must read for any knife or history enthusiast. Since I have finished reading it its now time to pass it on so that another member of this great place can enjoy it. No restrictions. But I do enjoy the get to know you threads so if you feel obliged maybe share a pic of a place you like to use your traditional knives. Also it would be fun if the winner also passed on the book when done. I dont have picture to add right now, but will add one this weekend when no longer trapped in my cube. Thanks again to everyone here this is a truly amazing place that I'm very glad I found.

I'm in thank you. I have seen good reviews on the book and would love to read it.

Oh.....I would definitely pass the book on if I were to win. :)

^I'll second that!

May I suggest anyone who's ever looked at an old knife read Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery by Gerald Witcher? Learned an lot from that book.

I would love to be in and will definitely pass it on when done.

There's a park behind my house. Well, there's woods behind my house and there's a park on the other side of that. Well, there's woods behind my house with a creek running through it and the park's on the other side of that. We have a little path leading through the woods to the park, and a little bridge over the creek. I like to walk the kids to the park and we'll stop by the bridge and share an apple while the kids tell me all about trolls and how they live under bridges just like this one. I slice the apple real thin and the kids try to eat it as fast as I can slice so that I don't get any. It's our little thing we do.

Here's some crappy cell phone pics of my favorite place to use my knife.

Good to see your passing it on. I'm in. Thanks and here's a spot I like to sit and whittle.

And for good measure some knives in that spot.

Great GAW - Thank you for the opportunity!

Here's a little stream in my favorite place, the Great Smoky Mountains. We try to make a camping trip or 2 here every year:

And here's a pic of my boys and I, headed out on a hike in the park. My oldest never goes anywhere outdoors without a SAK around his neck, and the youngest has a small buck tucked into his pocket. I'm certain I had a couple on me, likely a GEC 23 and a little Queen Oar carver - for some random stream side whittling.

Id love to read that book and pass it on....Heres a pic from our duck hunting lodge at dawn....If you are here to take this pic you have missed the first shoot...Theyre only ducks right? FES

I would really enjoy reading the book and promise to pass it on. Will try to post a picture when I have more time.

I would love a chance to read that and pass it along to another member here. Thanks for the opportunity!

Most of my knives see use on my camping/kayak trips. We load all our gear into our boats and disappear on the river for a few days. I'm doing my last one of the year this coming weekend on the Little Sioux river.

Boone River

Cedar River

Des Moines River

Upper Iowa River

Sunset on the Gunflint Trail

I didn't get a chance to make it to any of my favorite places this weekend. But I promised a pic so below is a picture of my back yard, which in actuality is where my knives get more use than any other place.

I'll use a random number thing to pick a winner next Saturday. So one more week to get in for anyone interested.

I'm in, and I'm a committed public library patron, so the idea of checking out a good book and then returning it for the enjoyment of others makes sense to me. Thanks for hosting this opportunity. I've posted a picture of a little lakeside cottage we've rented for a week or two every summer for the past 23 years, I think. It may not look like much in the photo, but my wife, daughter, and I have wonderful memories of all the good times we've had there. The photo is taken from the boat dock that stands in Lake Huron in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. So the cottage is located right on a Great Lake, but Huron is filled with a bunch of islands just off-shore there, which gives the feel of a much smaller, calmer body of water. We've spent a lot of hours kayaking among the islands. And we've spent a lot of hours sitting in the "front porch / dining room" (behind the set of 5 windows) enjoying a cool breeze off the lake while we held bloodthirsty Rummicube tournaments and worked on big jigsaw puzzles. The cottage is also a great location from which to take day trips to interesting eastern U.P. spots such as Mackinac Island, Drummond Island, Tahquamenon Falls (still have no idea how to spell that), Whitefish Point, Pictured Rocks, Sault Ste. Marie and Soo Locks. (Sorry for going into Michigan Tourist Bureau mode.) This past summer was the first during which I've been a "knifeknut", so I spent a lot of time whittling while sitting on the deck.

I started this and I'm totally stoked to see the book back up for the next round as a GAW. I had asked Kleingra to please put my name in the front cover and also add his under mine. It would be nice if this book gets passed around the forum and develops a "patina" from everyone reading it. Kleingra, don't forget the city and state so if this happens, later we can see where the book has travelled. I'm in Houston, Texas.

Lastly, THANKS to Kleingra. He said he would post a GAW with the book when he finished reading and it and here it is! I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did. I'm sure he did based on his post. Good luck to all the entrants and don't forget to add your name, city and state in the front cover if you decide to pass it on.

Thanks again Kleingra.

I was out camping in the rain this weekend with the Boy Scouts. We spent the day Saturday splitting stacking, and moving wood at the camp ground.
First load ready to go dump. The group did about 20 Cord's of wood.

At the camp site after the rain stopped.

My favourite slipjoint spot is right beside my bed, because that is where my two kids get to fight over who is picking what knife for me that day. No matter where the knife cuts something, it gets used to bond as a family as soon as it gets picked up!

I would love the chance to read that book, please count me in!
