Just thought I would post my recent experience with SOG customer service. I sent in a large Auto Clip folder that was just a mess. Handles were coming apart at the rear, lock spring gone, blade dull and had a few dings in the edge, clip adjuster didn't work. The last owner was in a motorcycle wreck with this knife, so it wasn't real pretty anymore, though the functional problems came along later as he continued to carry and use it. I didn't contact Chris@SOG as this is a discontinued knife I didn't have much money invested in it so I just thought I would send it in to see what happened, kinda just as an experiment. That was July 27th. Today I got it back and SOG had done the following:

Replaced the whole handle
Replaced the lock spring
Polished and sharpened the blade, took all the dings and scuffs out
Loc Tited the pivot screws so they wouldn't loosen up

The knife has no blade play up and down or side to side. Locks up very nice. Blade shape is kinda like a Buck 110 with a thumb slot. About the only thing I don't like is the adjustable clip, I think its just gadgetry, but oh well, the rest of the knife I like, very light weight big EDC. AUS-6 blade if I am not mistaken. Anyway, just wanted to relate my story. I am one happy SOG customer! :D

Anyone know the production dates for the Auto Clip? I've tried to find some info on these, but haven't found much. They seem to bring a decent price on Fleabay, like $30 range, so people out there must still like 'em.

Glad to hear a nice happy SOG customer always!

We can't be sure but looking through our materials I estimate it to be made from 1995 - 2005. Around 10 years of the autoclip/clip name. Quite a few versions/variants were made so the production dates are just an estimate, but are roughly around there.

Hope this helps and the autoclip is a fine pocket knife - so nice, small and handy! :D Continue to enjoy your "new" knife!

Cheers,
Mark ;)
