Great read in my opinion.

Makes me want to get the most from the least. It also reminds me of the traditional forum folks and also of 'jackknife' in particular.

I almost posted this in the Traditional forum but I figured it shouldn't go there.

Funny thing is I'm starting to look around my house and wonder......do I need all this crap? I need to minimalize my lifestyle.

From the article:

“Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

That statement is pithy and poetic. Yet I would be cautious when one's idea of minimalism might be more like asceticism, or when one's desire to do with less becomes an inconvenient or unhealthy quest for austerities.

I actually consider myself somewhat of a minimalist-- not in lifestyle so much, but rather just style. I prefer spartan simplicity and utilitarianism over flashiness, fashion, or symbolism.

I look forward to every day rituals or events, many mundane, rather than building up to a grand event (such as a vacation) that occurs infrequently.

Minimalism in its essence is just the acknowledgement and pursuit of improvement. Improvement of yourself, your kids, your marriage, your house, your community.

Everything else is simply materialism.

I don't mind possessions that aren't necessary so much, as long as I know I can sell them if need be.

Great read

I think it's time for me to list some knives, and get that computer I have my eye on. ;)
