I had this Kydex sheath made by Scott Hendryx of Boise, Idaho for my Dave Beck Wilderness Survival Knife. It's built like a tank with just enough friction built in so that it doesn't rattle. The strap across the handle falls clear of the blade when unsnapped so you don't accidentally cut the strap. The large pouch laces on and is removable. I have a World Survival Institute P-60C firestarter and an EZE-LAP diamond rod in the pouch. Scott's a great guy and his survival sheaths are a great value.

I also have a Dave Beck Survival knife and would be interested in this sheath, How can I get one?

Give Scott Hendryx an e-mail at-

The sheath is the #1-SB and is $40.00 plus $9.00 shipping. You will have to send him the knife. His turn around is 2 weeks and well worth it!

I'll second-the-motion on Scott Hyndryx Sheaths. I had him make one for a Gerber 5" fixed blade, five years ago. Great sheath and very useful pouch for a few "goodies." I carry a Military Fire Steel, some tender, EZ Lap "shirt pocket type" diamond sharpener, a AAA Mini Mag Lite, and 25 feet of nylon surveyer's twine in mine. I've given the sheath a pretty fair workout here in Idaho, for the past five hunting/camping seasons, and it's as good today as when it was made.

As Hyndryx lives about four miles from me, I merely dropped the knife off to him, and he showed me his shop, and how he made the sheathes. He is a fine person, too.

FWIW. L.W.

That is a really great sheath. That is one super functional package you have there!

Cole, be sure to post a pic of that sheath when you get it. I'd love to see it again, in it's new sheath of course;)
