My buddy and I killed 9 white tail this year. For most of them I used this combo. Ratmandu for splitting the pelvis and cutting the rib cage and the Skeleton warden for getting in there to get the guts out as well as for skinning. They are a fantastic pair for the job. I also had zero edge damage on the RMD from cutting the bones and the Skeleton warden was good for skinning 2 deer before I had to run it over the strop. Good times, good knives and good eats.

Cheers

saw this earlier but didn't say anything, but it's been too quiet in the forums far too long today :P

I couldn't tell what this was at first without reading it. looked like some artwork or painting. well you have Busse in there so I guess it's sort of artwork. and nice catches! but people aren't willing to use fabric Micarta around blood because it'd absorb everything--here you are doing it with paracord-wrapped handles? it doesn't look too bloody though.

Good job mate ... it is nice to see them used for what they should be used for

Nice deer, looks like some good eating. The micarta just washes right off, I've gotten blood on mine lots of times its easy to clean up.

In my experience, the paracord will never be the same but the micarta will be fine. I'm too lazy to kill that many deer. Too much work. :o

Whelen Nut,
I have used the RMD myself skinning. While I did not do the whole Deer with it, I certainly believe I could have easily however, I was also trying out a Batac that day. The RMD is a great knife and feels good in hand. I would love to see one in INFI. Congrats on the good hunting, I have only got a 10 point this year, as it's been slim picken's down here.

Thanks for the comments. The RMD is paper micarta and the blood comes off no problem. The Busse I just use a tooth pick to get the bigger chunks out of the paracord and then let it soak in a warm water with some dish soap. When it gets really ratty I just wrap a new one.

Just a random thought--what about soaking it in a hydrogen peroxide solution? That usually gets blood out of my clothes. Er uh not that that happens often ;)

Congrats on the meat scores. I would only worry about the bacteria growing and staying in that para if I planned to prepare future edibles with it. Just a thought.
